How to clear link preview cache on social platforms?

Shared your page link on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn with old link preview title, description or image? ๐Ÿค”

After updating your website with perfect preview content and image, if you try sharing your website link you will still see old preview content and image. ๐Ÿคจ

That's because these social platforms keep your post information in cache during several days!

But there is a solution to clear the cache and retrieve the latest update of your page to share ! ๐Ÿ™

Linkedin

  1. Got to Post Inspector
  2. Enter the URL and click on Inspect, You will see the updated preview image
  3. Now try sharing your URL on LinkedIn

Facebook

To clear the cache, Facebook has a tool called "Debugger"ย (formerly known as URL Linter). You may use this to clear the cache in Facebook.

  1. Go to Open Graph Object Debugger
  2. Login with your Facebook account
  3. Copy and Paste the URL you wish to clear in the "Input URL" field
  4. Click "Fetch new scrape information"ย 

Once completed, it will now the display the changes or update on your Facebook post.

Twitter

To clear the cache on Twitter, you must use the Twitter Card Validator tool:

  1. Go to Twitter Card Validator tool
  2. Login with your Twitter account
  3. Copy and paste the URL you wish to clear in the "Card URL" field
  4. Cick "Preview card"

Once completed, it will now the display the changes or update on your Tweet.
